Process Work is used in many different disciplines, and has a wide range of applications. Because it is a client-centered approach, and adapts to the context in which it is applied, each application is unique. These stories, case studies and narratives give you a close-up feel for the variety of ways Process Work is used in the world today.

Case Studies, Interviews and Stories

How Does Change Happen?
How does Process Work understand and work with change? Is change inherent in human and organizational systems, the result of interactions with the environment, or a mixture of both? This case study on change illustrates Process Work methods for working with change, and with the fear, resistance and identity clash that are inevitable when change threatens familiar and comfortable routines.

Teamwork Under Fire
Conflict and power and struggles in any group situation hinder a group's effectiveness. In jobs where life and death are on the line, they can be deadly. This case study on conflict and team building concerns a mountaineering expedition outfit, and illustrates process-oriented group facilitation methods for working under high stress, dangerous conditions.

Improvisational Theatre
Process Work's multi-channeled methods make it an intrinsically creative means of exploring the unknown, and thus, it has always been enthusiastically embraced by artists, musicians, dancers, and performers. Arlene Audergon's application of Process Work and Worldwork methods to improvisational theater with a troupe of actors in London has produced plays that have met international, critical acclaim.

Deep Democracy and Leadership
Creating sustainable social change requires congruence between means and ends - the methods for creating change must model the change that is being promoted. Carole Christopher discusses how her work in city politics and with an environmental rights movement in Vancouver, B.C., is enhanced by the inner work and facilitation methods that Process Work offers.

Locked Up and Learning
The Taoist principle underlying Process Work - that what happens is potentially meaningful and holds the seeds for creative transformation - is nowhere more challenged than in cases concerning perpetrators and criminal offenders. Gene Hansen has worked with adolescent offenders for many years, and has used Process Work in a variety of ways - from working with alcohol and drug dependency to holding "town hall meetings" with juveniles and staff in a residential facility.

On the City Streets
From the "City Shadow" concept to "Worldwork," the Process Work paradigm has always recognized that people who live on the margins or fringes of society have a special message and meaning for the mainstream. Lukas Hohler, who works for the City of Zurich, Switzerland, has a unique job - he facilitates the relationship between street people, shop keepers and citizens in the City of Zurich.
